It is my belief many battered children and women and even men, end up with PTSD or other Stigmatized Mental Health Challenges. NO ONE is immune from Mental Health Disorders. I am diagnosed with PTSD and have been for some time. I'm very sure that I had PTSD even before I was diagnosed with it. Lately, I have felt the need to spread the word about PTSD and spread abuse and child abuse awareness. I don't want these things happening to other people, especially the up and coming generations of today. These things generally go unnoticed by the public, and most people are embarrassed or too afraid to let the world know what really goes on behind closed doors. So, I wanted to help reveal what happens and the after effects of bad decisions, abuse, and neglect. |

NOTE: The videos in which I talk about my own abuse may be triggering for self-injurers, people with PTSD or others. If you're concerned that this might be you, please be careful. Abuse can mean anything from beatings and rape to ridicule and deception; anything that creates suffering either deliberately or instrumentally (ie to achieve some goal) is abusive. These videos are about my own experiences of abuse, suggestions on how to fight off abusers / gather evidence against them and my thoughts on strategies for overcoming the large segment of humanity that fosters abuse through its negligence or collusion. These are my first YouTube videos and also the first few times I've spoken to an unmoving, expressionless camera for fifteen minutes non-stop. I apologize if the mumbling gets incomprehensible at times and will include subtitles on request. I think I've experienced most general kinds of abuse as a child - the notable exception being rape, though I was sexually abused in more subtle ways according to the definitions I've encountered in the academic literature. The two things that helped the most in my recovery were hearing from other victims, who acknowledged the horrifying nature of my experiences, and understanding how much my father had in common with other abusers, which allowed me to put his evil nature into context. |

Age 7-9 Johnny tried to be tough - But would end up vomiting waiting for the bus. Knowing that the teachers would not help him. Superintendent refused removing attacking students from campus to DAEP Texas law TEC Chapter 37 Principal refused to call parents when he was beaten - Tried to hide assaults Sent back to class instead to cover up the injuries and take swellings down with ice-bags Johnny was sent home on the bus more times than we can count with Black eyes - Knocked loose teeth to enrage parents. Evidence of 42 school nurse logs they claimed they were not aware of? Dr's verified bruises next day Chiropractor realigned Johnny's neck and back after assaults from 2009 -2011 Pediatrician examined johnny & wrote a note to Kerens school 5/24/11 to stop the abuse before it's too late. Psychiatrist team at Childrens hospital from 8/31/11 to present diagnosed johnny with blatant post traumatic stress disorder and put him on psychotropic drug Remeron 24 hours a day to stop the vomiting - shortness of breath and violent headaches Physical therapist prescribed Naproxen for pain associated with PTSD for neck and back. I appeared with Kathy Cordova on "In A Word" when she interviewed me in September 2011 after reading my memoir, SISTER OF SILENCE. Kathy was a great interviewer, who called it "very inspiring and hopeful and educational." She said it's a book everyone should read. She asked about the most important topics in my book: child sexual abuse, rape, at-rick teens, single-parent families, teen pregnancy, and mental illness, while giving me a chance to talk about how those factors affected me--and how journalism became my escape route, and led to my survival.
